INTRODUCING...

Aleida Hammond

London, UK

My name is Aleida Hammond. I am an artist who works with mediums such as photography and acrylic paint. I am a responsible and self-motivated individual passionate about the creative industry. Recently I completed my final year of studying BA in Fine Art at Loughborough University. I also freelance as a photographer and videographer.

With my artwork, I aim to showcase aspects of faith in a contemporary space. I aim to explore topics which are not as spoken about in the black community, an example being mental health.

My photography has developed from primarily portraits to portraits, stills and videography, with the aim of telling people’s stories. I also specialise in painting and drawing portraits and specialised commissioned. The mediums I use help me to visually create an open dialogue about topics not as spoken about by communities. Examples of this are speaking on faith in a more levelled way to create an open dialogue. Additionally, mental health in the black community and visually showcasing vulnerability is something I am passionate about.

What motivates and inspires me as an artist is to be a part of creating more of a diverse space. I use creativity to express myself, as well as to share the stories of others. My desire is to see of people colour have more representation. An aim of mine is to also help people have more facilities and space to express themselves creatively. To have artists of colour in more mainstream areas of art and design is something that I would like to be a part of.
