Tea Time

Oil on canvas

VOTE COUNTED
Valencia, Spain
This is a painting of my mother and a play on the "Tea" and "Time" words. She never likes me to paint her because she can see the passing of time on her face reflected in the painting. I've illustrated this in my painting: she is pouring tea in the cup for what she thinks are a few seconds, but minutes and hours have passed, and the tea has spilled all over. Time has passed while being distracted by life.

Into the wave

This piece is based on the Kefalonian sea, looking at the waves and abstracting the imagery into a calming visual which enhances both texture and colour. Taken from my interiors project for university, I aimed to create a mural which would project calmness into a room, yet still have a slight contrast in colour and texture.

This is a self portrait of me made during a very emotionally distressing and draining point in time - my first Christmas as a widow. Making it helped me to process how I was feeling right then. I find ,making arts and crafts hugely therapeutic - it distracts from other thoughts and it can be really meditative. The collages I make are especially absorbing because I use such tiny pieces of magazines - it takes a long time to build the portrait up.

Balanga City, Bataan, Philippines
This watercolour artwork shows the view of Dubai Creek from the 11th floor. The Creek is one of the main tourist spots in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The old souk (marketplace) is also known as the Old Dubai and is the main trade area which opens to the creek surrounded by colourful spices, textiles, gold and many more. Trading and transportation in the Creek is still kept alive until now. With the fast phased development in Dubai, it is justifiable to capture what has remained from the old days. Painting this took me approximately 22 hours because of its minute details from up top.

This is St Andrew Holborn in the City of London. I pass it by every day on my way to work, and am always amazed by the harmony: the modern streetlight meets a baroque church at the heart of the city. This is a sanctuary for people living in the city, from yesterday to today, that we can stop by and find a moment of inner peace.

I have traveled and lived a lot in tropical countries and really love tropical plants. I like bright saturated colors and green harmonizes the interior. Now I live on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and banana trees are part of the everyday landscape.
My work here is a single copy of my unique and original handiwork. It is made on special, high-quality 100% cotton paper designed for watercolor from the world’s best manufacturers and has a density of 300 grams/meter.
________________
Artist statement:
Delnara was born in Ukraine, but does not often visit her homeland. How the artist works with the polysemy of the concept of "migration", searches for new facets of a multicultural and multiethnic world community.
Dynamic perception, the rejection of settled life, migration - in her artistic practice, these are tools for the re-actualization of the "mental map", a way to see more clearly, resetting again and again the automaticity of perception. Nomadism as an instrument of cognition and
estrangement, a hormone of fresh perception, transferred to the field of art, allows you to leave room for a miracle, for the manifestation of life itself.

I saw this plot while traveling in Malaysia, in the picturesque town of Melaka. Tropical frangipani flowers and bright green bamboo grew against the backdrop of the bright orange wall of the house. I wanted to convey these bright colors and this picture warms the house.

This work is about the fragility and beauty of our world. We dream of windows overlooking the sea (and the artwork is made in the form of a porthole on a ship), but we forget about those for whom the sea is home.
The whale and the sea are painted with acrylics. Waves made with epoxy. The surface of the painting is glossy.
The artwork is framed in a wooden frame, there is a mount for hanging on the back.
